The Problem

In Canada, $31 billion worth of food is wasted annually, mostly from spoilage during transportation and overbuying products. Ontarians alone generated nearly 3.6 million tones of food and organic waste that could have been sent to communities in need but instead end up breaking down in landfills and releasing a powerful greenhouse gas called methane.
